Green Futures Tree Planting Campaign
About this event
ANC Youth League members are leading a Green Futures campaign to restore green spaces and build climate awareness in Alexandra. Participants will plant indigenous saplings, learn basic environmental stewardship, and discuss how young people can advocate for cleaner, safer neighbourhoods. The campaign is run in partnership with local schools, ward committees, and environmental mentors.

Event schedule
07:30 AM – 08:00 AM
Safety briefing & tool allocation
Gloves, spades, and planting zones assigned to teams.
08:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Tree planting & park restoration
Teams plant saplings and clear litter from designated zones.
11:15 AM – 12:30 PM
Climate talk & closing
Short discussion on water conservation and community greening plans.
Good to know
- Requirements: Open to youth volunteers. Minors must attend with a guardian.
- Bring: Water bottle, sun hat, closed shoes, and gardening gloves if you have them.
- Dress code: Outdoor workwear
- Audience: Youth volunteers and school eco-clubs
